Delta Gamma

Social Awareness

Our Director of Social Awareness, Riley Furrick, a freshman Nutrition major, has been working extremely hard to make sure members are being held socially accountable. She has made many informational graphics and presentations for the chapter.

Additionally, we have had other sisters advocating for human rights of marginalized groups. Our chapter has posted an official statement regarding the Black Lives Matter movement. We have promoted multiple petitions and places to donate such as the Philadelphia Community Bail Fund.

Our chapter has also recognized that fraternities and sororities have had a long history of contributing to systemic racism, and we are taking active steps towards being an anti-racist organization. We have added many topics to our member education such as white privilege, the history of racism within Delta Gamma and the country, how to have an open conversation surrounding racism, how to be authentic supporters of our black community, as well as how to be aware of racial and implicit bias.
