Our Local Philanthropy Events
Eta Upsilon has continued to develop a strong relationship with the Blind Sports Organization here in Philadelphia. We volunteered at their fall sports weekend and goalball tournaments throughout the year, and some sisters have volunteered at BSO practices. Goalball is a fast-paced team sport designed specifically for athletes who are blind or visually impaired. Overall, it has been extremely rewarding to give back to our community while also supporting our philanthropy, and we hope to be volunteering for BSO for many years to come.
This year, we held our first annual AnchorDash event in order to fundraise for Service for Sight. For every ten dollars raised, our sisters of Delta Gamma would walk a mile, and all of the proceeds would go towards our philanthropy. Many of our sisters contributed, as well as friends and family who supported the cause by donating to our foundation. This year we raised $2129.50 for AnchorDash!
The Overbrook school for the Blind held a Run/Walk n Roll Trick or Trot 5K on October 30th, 2021. Our sisters had so much fun helping with this event!
To celebrate our 148th year anniversary of Delta Gamma, our vp: programming, Michel Bentley, created a video to display the history of our foundation and performed new rituals to strengthen our sisterhood. In addition, we awarded and commemorated the members of our sorority who exemplified the best attitudes and core values of Delta Gamma.
