The Founding of Our Chapter
On October 12th 2015, Delta Gamma Fraternity invited over sixty women to become founders of a new chapter at Drexel University. These sixty-plus women shared an interest in becoming a part of a new Greek organization on campus and becoming Delta Gamma sisters.
As a chapter, Eta Upsilon members participated in many philanthropic events and engaged with other Greek chapters to create friendly ties with the sisterhoods and brotherhoods already established at Drexel. This year, we have held multiple fundraisers at local restaurants including Schmear It, El Taco, and Shake Shack in order to raise money for the Delta Gamma Foundation.
In April of 2017, Eta Upsilon held our very first annual philanthropy event, AnchorSlam. A large part of the Greek community participated in our event to help raise money for Service for Sight, as well as friends and family who helped support our cause by donating to the Delta Gamma Foundation. Last year, for our third AnchorSlam event, Eta Upsilon raised over $5,000, making the event an overwhelming success for our chapter.
This past year, Eta Upsilon has had many impactful sisterhoods, strengthening all of our bonds. Some examples include teaching sisters about each other's cultures and hobbies, spending holidays or special occasions together, adventuring off-campus, chapter retreat at the zoo, and holding events with other Panhellenic organizations.
We have also sponsored programs for our members covering the topics of sexual assault awareness, diversity and inclusion, hazing prevention, and we held the Alcohol Skills Training Program. Hosting these programs and sisterhoods has continued to foster a positive and safe environment in our chapter.
